A 153-acre mixed-use project in Davie wants a density increase, townhomes are proposed in Oakland Park, and an Aloft Hotel could rise along Interstate 75.

The Broward County Commission will consider three major development projects their first crack at approval on Oct. 13, with a mix of apartments, townhomes, retail and hotels on the table.

The 152.7-acre mixed-use College Crossings Two project in Davie would add more residential, commercial and hospitality density under a revision to it development plan.

The vacant property is on the south side of Interstate 595 between Davie Road and Florida’s Turnpike. The new development plans calls for 350 townhomes, 356 mid-rise units, 106 garden apartments, 439,965 square feet of commercial/retail space, and hotels of 124 rooms and 65 rooms.

That differs from the development plan the county approved in February 2014. The developer wants to remove a 20,000-square-foot bank from the plan while increasing the allowable commercial space by about 100,000 square feet, adding the garden apartments and mid-rise units and adding the 65-unit hotel.

The property is owned by Forman Industrial Land, managed by former bank executive Miles Austin Forman. The application states that national apartment developer Greystar would built 288 of the midrise units and the 106 garden apartments and WaterWalk Real Estate Services would build the remaining 68 midrise units and the 65-room hotel.

The developer is represented by Craven Thompson & Associates.

D.R. Horton plans 133 townhomes in Oakland Park

National homebuilder D.R. Horton (NYSE: DHI) wants approval for its Eastside Village townhome project in Oakland Park.

The developer has proposed 133 townhomes and a 2.25-acre municipal park on the 15-acre site at 4100 N. Dixie Highway. It acquired the property in May in a short sale for $5.9 million.

According to D.R. Horton’s website, homes in Eastside Village will range from 1,446 square feet to 1,508 square feet with one-car garages. The building would be two stories.

Law firm Greenspoon Marder represents D.R. Horton on the project. The company is also building townhome projects in Pompano Beach and Oakland Park.

Aloft hotel would have 136 rooms

A proposed Aloft Hotel in Davie would have 136 rooms in about 80,000 square feet.

Davie Hospitality, a Miami Beach-based company led by Enrique Colmenares and Andrea Martinez, plan to build the five-story hotel on the southeast corner of 160th Avenue (Dykes Road) and Southwest 14th Street (Indian Trace). The 3-acre site is on the edge of Weston just west of Interstate 75.

The property was acquired for $2.5 million in 2014.

Aloft is part of Starwood Hotels (NYSE: HOT).
