A luxury estate owned by T. Boone Pickens has sold for $5.5 million, according to listings.
Located at 9434 Alva Court in Dallas’ Old Preston Hollow neighborhood, the 8,906-square-foot home sits on a 1.05-acre lot and features three bedrooms, three full bathrooms and three half baths.
The gated estate, which was designed by architect Wilson Fuqua and built by Jim Shaw, also includes extensive gardens, outdoor entertainment areas, two master suites, two dining rooms, three fire places, a gym, a three-car garage, and guest quarters equipped with a full bath and kitchenette. First listed in October, having Pickens’ name tied to the estate helped it sell quickly, said Ryan Streiff, the realtor who sold the property. According to deed records, the buyers were Mr. and Mrs. John Calvert.
“I think that people understand there’s a level of quality found in the home and grounds,” added Streiff, who runs the Perry-Miller Streiff Group, a sales group within Dave Perry Miller Real Estate.
Pickens bought the property in 2005, according to Mansion Global, reportedly paying around $5 million, though that number could not be confirmed.
“My Alva Court property in Dallas is a wonderful home with some incredible neighbors,” Pickens said in a statement to Mansion Global. “But as an 89-year-old single man, I’ve just got too much house on my hands.”
This is the second Pickens property to hit the market. The Dallas billionaire put his 65,000-acre ranch in Pampa up for sale late last year with a price tag of $250 million.
Once sold, most of the proceeds are expected to benefit the T. Boone Pickens Foundation.
