Roughly 53,000 square feet of office space is planned for Ballantyne Village. It will replace the longtime movie theater there.

Regal Ballantyne Village will close in February to make way for office space.

Ballantyne Village owner Stonemar Properties plans to bring 53,000 square feet of Class A office space to the theater site, says Jonathan Gould, co-managing member of Stonemar.

It is located at 14814 Ballantyne Village Way.

“With retail at your footsteps and unmatched signage/branding opportunities, this truly unconventional space blows away all the vanilla office options available,” Gould says.

JLL is leasing the office space. Further details were not immediately available.

Stonemar owns Ballantyne Village in conjunction with American Realty Advisors. Those parties purchased that property in 2017 for $43.2 million, according to Mecklenburg County real estate records.

Knoxville, Tennessee-based Regal Cinemas Inc. opened the five-screen theater in 2006.

It is one of Charlotte’s few remaining art-house theaters.

Representatives from Regal did not respond to a request for comment on Thursday.

Ballantyne Village is a 160,000-square-foot, mixed-use development that incorporates housing, office and retail components as well as outdoor gathering spaces. Restaurants with sidewalk dining line the main street.
