It is the Cardinal’s first national championship since 1986, and the team’s third national title.

The win was aided by Luke Hancock’s 22 points, and Louisville’s recovery from a 12-point deficit.

After the game, the net was lowered so that Louisville guard Kevin Ware, who was injured in the team’s win over Duke and unable to play, could cut down the net as a token of the team’s victory. Ware, an Atlanta hometown favorite, is a graduate of Rockdale County High School.

The Sporting News looks at four pivotal moments from the game.
