What accomplishments propelled your company to being one of the Best Places to Work in 2023?

D&I is one of our cornerstone values, and we are proud to be the only North Carolina mid-sized law firm awarded Mansfield Certified Plus in 2023 from Diversity Labs for our actions to diversify our leadership and recruit and retain attorneys from underrepresented groups and for ensuring diverse lawyers are considered for new business efforts.

Health benefit costs continuously rise. Again this year, our firm absorbed the additional costs for staff, associate lawyers and counsel.

What is the average minimum wage at your company? We compensate our employees based on their position, their experience and a number of other factors. Due to the wide variance of positions at our firm, these factors vary greatly from person to person.

Name two unique benefits that you offer that could be of interest to prospective employees?

Smith Anderson’s collegial culture has been carefully cultivated for 110 years and is an exceptional benefit to those in our firm family. We celebrate and bond together with lunches, special events and affinity groups that offer social, volunteer and educational opportunities. In challenging times, we grieve for each other and lend helping hands. Smith Anderson is a place where you can stay your entire career, and many do.

We provide many best-in-class professional development opportunities.

What is your policy on working from home? Smith Anderson continues to provide flexibility post-Covid with a hybrid schedule available to most employees unless their job duties are more directly aligned with in-person work and assistance.
