The Business Journal has rolled out its annual list of power brokers, newsmakers, influencers and luminaries — otherwise known as the Power 100.

It's a list of movers and shakers, the most influential people who are either making news, getting things done behind the scenes or using their wealth and power for the betterment of our communities.

In other words, it's the Business Journal's fifth annual Power 100 list.

Some of them are titans of industry who have helped build the largest companies in the region. Others are philanthropists who are making a difference in our region. And some are entrepreneurs or leaders of emerging companies that are making a mark.

Yes, if you are one of the wealthiest people in the world or run a Fortune 100 company, there's a solid chance that your name is on this list. But net worth and fancy titles weren't the only criteria for our list.

Unlike some of our awards programs, there is no nomination process for Power 100. Rather, this program is the culmination of a year's worth of reporting and listening to people in the community.

Business Journal Publisher Don Baker authored this year's list with input from the newsroom and contributors. Click through the slideshow above to see who made the cut.

As always, we hope this iteration of the Power 100 will inspire conversations and perhaps some reflection. And for you history buffs, check out the Power 100 from years past:
