9 KC-area companies land on Inc. fastest-growing Midwest businesses list

The top local company on the list had two-year revenue growth of 461%.

Nine Kansas City-area companies secured a spot on the “Inc. 5000 Regionals: Midwest,” a list of the fastest-growing private companies in the Midwest.

This year’s ranking featured 172 companies based on revenue growth from 2020 to 2022. To qualify, they had to be operational and generating revenue by March 31, 2020, and meet minimum revenue requirements of $100,000 in 2020 and $1 million in 2022.

Kansas City-area companies had 135% median growth and added 737 jobs, Inc. magazine reports. Kansas City-based Conexon ranked No. 24 on the list, the top among local companies. The company works with rural electric cooperatives to bring fiber internet to underserved communities that lack reliable high-speed internet access. Conexon reported 461% revenue from 2020 to 2022.

It ranked No. 19 last year on the Kansas City Business Journal’s Fast 50 List and had $171.94 million in 2022 revenue.

Leawood-based full-service digital marketing and consumer insights agency Seismic Digital took the No. 58 spot on the Inc. list, with 202% revenue growth. Its clients have included Dri Duck, American Century Investments and wine maker eStCru. Last year, it also added a past Inc. 5000 honoree to its client roster, Lenexa-based lifestyle and apparel company Mersea.

  • No. 62: RLM Underground (Kansas City, Kansas) – 186%
  • No. 74: Dynamic Logistix (Overland Park) – 159%
  • No. 85: Tallgrass Freight Company (Shawnee) – 135%
  • No. 114: Max Motors Dealerships (Harrisonville) – 100%
  • No. 148: OCCU-TEC (North Kansas City) – 64%
  • No. 161: Lotpop (Olathe) – 57%
  • No. 167: Apollo Health Insurance (Lee’s Summit) – 53%
